GOD

Both Christians and Muslims believe that there is only one God. However, Muslims believe in the absolute oneness of God—Allah. Christians believe the one God is a Trinity of co-equal and co-eternal persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

JESUS

Christians believe that Jesus is the Son of God and Savior of the world. They believe that he was crucified and resurrected. Muslims deny all this, teaching that Jesus (Isa) was just a human prophet who was taken up into heaven. Muslims believe that Jesus will return to earth in the future.

SCRIPTURES

Christians believe that the Bible contains the Old and New Testaments and is God's Word. Muslims claim that the Bible has been corrupted. God's literal words are found in the Qur'an. And they also respect the Hadith, which contain the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad.

SALVATION

Christians believe that salvation is a gift of God's grace through faith in Jesus. Faith in Jesus results in a transformed life and good works. Muslims believe that salvation is achieved through faith in the oneness of God and living a righteous life by following Islamic teachings, including the Five Pillars of Islam (faith, prayer, almsgiving, fasting, and pilgrimage).

ETERNAL LIFE

Christians believe in eternal life in heaven for those who accept Jesus as their Savior. They also believe in the concept of hell for those who reject God. Muslims believe in the concept of paradise (Jannah) and hell (Jahannam). Salvation leads to eternal life in paradise, while those who reject God or live sinful lives may face punishment in hell.

DENOMINATIONS

The two main denominations within Christianity are Catholicism and Protestantism, while the two main denominations within Islam are Sunni and Shia. Catholics differ from Protestants over the authority of the Pope and traditions. Most Muslims worldwide are Sunni. Shias (mostly in Iran) differ from Sunnis over the leadership of the Muslim community.
